A simple checklist for using price alerts when a coin dips
Sharp drops tempt people into rushed decisions. Setting your levels in advance, while the market is calm, makes it easier to stick to a plan.
Before you set the alert
- Write down why you would want to buy at a lower price, and how much you are willing to put in.
- Pick two or three price levels instead of one, so you are not all-in on a single number.
- Decide what would make you skip it, for example a change in the reason you wanted the coin.
When the alert fires
- Check why the price moved before acting on it.
- Do not add more than the amount you planned.
- If the move was larger than you expected, wait for the next level rather than chasing.
